Every single day, I see fake news stories in my Facebook feed claiming that the end is near for Donald Trump. The left is so eager to believe that Trump’s Russian connections will finally come to light, and he will be impeached or forced to resign.
It is true that people surrounding Trump and his presidential campaign have had ties to Russia. At this time, there is no evidence directly connecting him personally to Vladimir Putin, alleged pee-pee tapes, and the myriad of other stories that claim his resignation is imminent.
These stories are being perpetuated by the “alternative media” because people want to believe, and that translates into profit, regardless if the facts hold up or not. It also lulls the left into complacency, thinking that we just have to sit back and wait for the fallout.
Even if some real journalist were to uncover evidence that connected Trump to Vladimir Putin, what difference would it make? His staunchest supporters wouldn’t care, and Trump and Putin could golf together shirtless at Mar-a-Lago without any protest from the deplorables.
Congressional Republicans would never vote to impeach him. Even if they did, we would end up with Mike Pence who is even worse.
All of the petitions and protests against Trump will not bring him down on their own. I know it gives people hope to sign petitions and share the hottest blog article claiming his end is near, but none of that will work. Trump and his family are riding the taxpayer’s dollar as far as they can, and they have an army of gullible conservatives supporting every stupid move he makes.
For the time being, we’re stuck with Herr Gropenfuhrer Von Thinskin. That doesn’t mean we have to accept his illegitimate presidency though. We can fight back, and it starts with liberals and progressives taking our government back at the local and state levels.
Conservatives have taken over state offices across the country. They have passed laws restricting civil rights, and liberals don’t seem to be interested in trying to opposing them in red states. We need to change that, before it is too late.
I’m asking you to get involved. Run for local or state offices, even if it is for a school board position, or the mayor of your small town. Every little bit helps. The resistance starts at the local level, and you can do your part as a citizen to stop Trump.
